When Barbara and I arrived for that first appointment, Dr. LaRusso greeted us at the door, but Barbara walked right by him as though he did not exist, her face set in its typical mask. Today, five years later, when Dr. LaRusso comes to the door, Barbara greets him with a cheery smile, “Hi, Dr. LaRusso,” and a wave of her hand. He smiles back and when she gets to the door, they shake hands.

Barbara came to NOT with a host of communication, academic and behavioral concerns. Slowly but surely, Neural Organization Technique has allowed Dr. LaRusso to break down these concerns, find their source in her system, and dismiss them, virtually clearing them from her body and mind changing her abilities and her behaviors and allowing our beautiful child to emerge from the disorder that has kept her prisoner.

From the first treatment we were able to notice changes in Barbara. She seemed calmer and better able to focus. One of the first absolute concrete exhibitions of the impact of the treatments occurred about three months after we began weekly sessions.

Dr. LaRusso had finished testing a particular program and found it cleared. He gave Barbara a thumb’s up sign. As he looked at her, with his hand in a fist and his thumb in the air, he asked, “Can you do this? Make a fist like this, and then put your thumb up. This means good job.”

Barbara tried to mimic his gesture, but all she could do was place her fist closer to his. I was shocked to say the least, and puzzled as well. “She can’t do it,” I said.

He replied, “She’s not processing what she’s looking at.” He began an adjustment, which took about twenty minutes. When he was done, Dr. LaRusso asked Barbara again to make a thumb’s up sign. Slowly she raised her hand into a fist and lifted her thumb. I think that was the turning point for all of us.
